Pee Pees Like Daddy

I'm still laughing about this. Here's what I caught Layla doing the other night when I was trying to clean up before bed time. She doesn't have a shirt on because she wasn't having any of that. She took off before I could get her p.j. top on. Maybe because she had this plan in her head the whole time and was thinking about being just like daddy... pee pees just like daddy!! Watch closely and you'll see that she even does the "shake" when she's done. ;)

Mommy and Layla Day

I'm quite sure that today I was the only one on the planet that did not have plans for the day. Jake went fishing with a neighbor and Layla and I desperately needed something to do. So, I decided to make the trek south and take her to the Betty Brinn Children's Museum. Well worth the trip. Layla LOVED it. There are so many things to do there that are right up her alley - play in a full blown "kiddie kitchen" (which is what she's doing in the pics above), grocery shop, play in a ranger station, watch puppet shows, art time, and of course steps. No, steps aren't part of the attractions at the museum, they're just necessary to get IN to the museum. But, turns out Layla thinks stairs are about as fun as puppies and markers!

After the museum, we went outside to walk around by the art museum downtown, see the awesome water display, people watch, etc. She loved it. She's such a ham and just trotted around in front of me with her little sun hat on. You could tell she was thinking, "Hey everyone! My name is Layla! I'm not sure if you know this, but I'm a pretty big deal!" It was a great time and so much fun for me to just follow her around and watch her discover things and be so excited about just being little and free in the world.

This morning, our "cool down" song at my workout class was, "In my daughter's eyes" by Martina McBride. I must be PMSing or something because there I was, sweating my face off, looking like a tomato from my workout and I was tearing up!! The song totally reminds me of my little Layla and I'll always think of this day with her when I hear it. Here's one of my favorite snipits from the song... "In my daughter's eyes I am a hero. I am strong and wise and I know no fear. But the truth is plain to see, she was sent to rescue me. I see who I wanna be, In my daughter's eyes."

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!! Thank you to the BRAVE who have sacrificed so much for our FREEDOM.

Boots!!

Layla decided it was high time she tried daddy's army boots on the other night. She thought she was a bad ass. It was a little challenging when she tried to walk with these bad cats on though!

Sentences

Fellow blog followers... my sincere apologies for the delay in posts. I have no excuses. Now let's get to the updates.

Layla has really started chatting it up w/us these days. She's starting to put words together and this week started saying, "bless you," (bess you) "love you" (yuv oooh), "thank you" (keee koo), and "let's go" (ess go). seriously, this stuff just all came out of the blue too. Of course, she's still saying her random words like "please" (peeeze) and "outside" (owshiiide) about 1000 times a day. One of her funnier words is "water" (wahler). for some reason she loves water. Not necessarily drinking it, but more so playing with it, in it, on it, under it.

We're looking very much forward to more sunshine and a long weekend and I'll be sure to post pics before the weekend (and plenty after the long holiday weekend).

Happy Sunny Days!!

4th Generation to the Grid Iron

What on God's green earth is the grid iron, you ask? Well friends, it's the famous Sherman hunting plot far far up north in good 'ol Pembine, Wisconsin. Lots of history there for Jake and his family... mainly deer murders but I'll let Jake, Best and Lil' Sherm add commentary on the historical detail of this fine nature filled heaven.

Last weekend, daddy took Layla to see G'pa Ice and G'ma D. While there, G'ma D took Layla up to the "Grid Iron" to visit G'pa and daddy while they worked. Sounds like she had a great time, loving the outdoors as always and exploring this historic plot of land. Hudson was a bit swayed by Layla's appearance on his stomping grounds but after a while I think he enjoyed having her there and showing her all the fun things there were to do.

Thanks Ice and Heavy D for taking care of our sweet little ham bone all weekend. She had a blast and did not stop trying to make us laugh for at least two days after she was home. Which means she enjoyed the 100% full on attention she received from you both for 48 hours straight!!

Hudson, what!?! No, I don't care about the stupid round yellow thing. I want to see some flowers and bunnies.

Come on G'pa and G'ma. I have to show you something.

How precious is this?? Look familiar?

Come here chubby, let's take your coat off and get you some sun!

Daddy posing, Layla soul searching.

Do you think I could climb that tree over there??

Dude, is this the coolest sweatshirt ever or what??? Thanks Grandpa and Grandma!!! Soooo many people at home are jealous of this bad cat!!

She's just like her Grandpa... loves blooming flowers... Here, she's checking out some fresh wild flowers.
